With the rise in mental illness, it is important to the health care providers at Jupiter Internal Medicine Associates to screen our patients for depression. It is the goal of our medical practice to improve clinical outcomes in adults and older adults as recommended by the US Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF).
If you suspect you are suffering from depression, it is best to visit your primary care or family medicine doctor. Our providers utilize Provisional Diagnoses and Treatment Guidelines based on PHQ-9 score. Based on your evaluation and score will determine an appropriate care plan. In addition, as your health care advocate, the health providers at Jupiter Internal Medicine will evaluate and rule out other health problems. Health care problems that we investigate to rule out may be low blood sugar, anemia, vitamin deficiencies, or kidney / liver problems. Treating depression can be handled with antidepressant medications, referral to psychotherapy or both with a goal to improve clinical outcomes. The providers of Jupiter Internal Medicine can assist you with facilitating and referring you to additional mental health support providers.
